We switched over from United to Hawaiian Air Lines for our flights to and from the Mainland and get better service as ordinary customers from them than we did as United Premier customers.
I had to take a United Flight the other day and was miserable.

dear ruthe, i am happy that you finally found nanzen-ji. it is a wonderful place and your photographs capture that moment of wondering around and being taken by the overwhelming beauty of japanese gardens. i am back in new york and i hope you will arrive home safe. it must be quiet a change for you to be in Pittsburgh again. i miss kyoto and i hope we wil catch up soon.

The photographs. I often find that I have way to much art education and not enough photography education to judge anyone’s photography. I’ve loved every shot you take….admittedly I’m envious that you could be there in those wonderful gardens.

I see your photographs as fuzzy or lacking in clarity this trip. They always have plenty of contrast, they just haven’t been as sharp as my fading eyes have wanted. It’s probably me. I cannot tell you what a gift this is to share these magic images with us. I hope you like them as much when you get home. I assure you, I will return here again and again.

I hope you got the obi packed ok, and you and the big suitcase made it to the airport in good shape.

Thanks, I liked the botanical gardens a lot, and I did enjoy the wet dry contrast. Hope you were able to stay dry and warm.

Wow…this is really amazing, Ruthe….the images are just breathtaking and I bet it is really nice to be far away from the troubles here…your photo’s really put all of this stuff in its proper place….this too shall pass…

Again I am mesmerized by your images. Today the bamboo rising to the heavens, the statue, I could expound endlessly and will show these pictures to G when he gets home. The manmade balance: Rocks that look like bushes, bushes that look like rocks, rocks that look like bamboo……..or are stacked just as items to meditate upon. I’ll come back often to these pictures.
